Frequently Asked Questions

At Chagrin Highlands Dental Group, we never sacrifice quality.

During Covid- 19 what can I expect?

Please carefully read the following steps to ensure proper check-in at your appointment.
When you arrive at the office and you are in the parking lot, stay in your car and call us at 216-831-1170. We will ask you a series of screening questions and will inform you when you can enter the building.

  • Hand sanitizer will be available as soon as you enter the office and your temperature will be taken. Hand sanitizer will also be around the office and we encourage you to use it as needed.
  • You will then be walked back and seated in the operatory for your appointment. Waiting room chairs will be socially distanced and are for no more than 5 minutes only, if needed.

How Often Should I Visit My Dentist?

Here at Chagrin Highlands Dental Group, we recommend visiting your dentist at least two times each year. Regular visits will allow your dentist to check your oral health and look for signs of potential problems. Catching infections and decay early and beginning treatment right away is the best way to prevent severe dental issues.

Should I Arrive Early to My First Visit?

If you are a new patient, we recommend arriving a few minutes before your appointment so you can fill out any necessary paperwork.

What Do I Need to Bring to My Appointment?

If you are visiting us for the first time, please bring the following items to your appointment:

  • A valid ID card
  • Dental Insurance
  • Relevant medical paperwork

You can download our new patient registration forms, medical history forms, dental history forms, and HIPAA consent forms on our New Patient Information page. You can download and print these forms to bring with you, or simply email them to us before your appointment date.

What is your Financing Policy?

At Chagrin Highlands Dental Group, we believe everyone should have access to quality dental care. We never compromise quality or care for any reason. Because of this, we are committed to helping each patient find the perfect financing option and maximize their insurance benefits.

We participate in most major dental insurance networks and accept cash, check, and all major credit cards. We also offer CareCredit financing for those who need a little extra help paying for their dental care.

How Do I Care for My Dental Health Outside of the Office?

Taking care of your mouth and teeth at home is the most important step in maintaining a healthy smile. To do this, Dr. Desatnik recommends brushing and flossing at least twice a day. When possible, use dental products that contain fluoride. This mineral will help strengthen your enamel and keep your teeth free of infection and decay.

Maintaining a healthy diet is also very important. Avoid eating overly sweet foods such as candies, cakes, and cookies. Try to avoid consuming too many dark foods and drinks such as coffee and tea. To prevent tooth damage, do not chew on hard substances like ice.

How Can I Prevent Cavities?

Cavities form when bacteria and food particles get trapped in bumps and crevices on and around the teeth. Eventually, these substances begin to eat away at the tooth – causing infection and decay. Thankfully, there are several ways to minimize the risk of cavities.

First, keep up with your daily brushing and flossing. This will help clean bacteria from your enamel and cracks between the teeth. Secondly, be sure to visit your dentist often. If we can find signs of decay early, we may be able to save your teeth from a serious infection. Finally, ask Dr. Desatnik about preventative options such as dental sealants and fluoride treatments.
